Uzbekistan delegation participates in the 92nd General Session of the World Organisation for Animal Health in Paris

The 92nd General Session of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) has commenced in Paris, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Within the framework of the session, a bilateral meeting took place between Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Bahrom Norkobilov, and Director General of WOAH Emmanuel Subiran.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed further strengthening cooperation and reached an agreement to involve WOAH experts to assist Uzbekistan in obtaining "disease-free zone" status in such areas as foot-and-mouth disease in cattle and highly pathogenic avian influenza.

Bahrom Norkobilov proposed including the "Model WOAH" program in the list of core competencies of the first level recommended by WOAH within veterinary education.

At the session’s opening ceremony, Chairman Bahrom Norkobilov was awarded the WOAH Medal for his many years of fruitful activity in veterinary medicine, significant contributions to strengthening regional and international cooperation, advancing veterinary education and science, as well as for initiatives on animal health protection, epizootic stability, and effective implementation of international standards into the national system. It is important to note that this is the first time this award has been presented to a representative of Uzbekistan.

During the ceremony, WOAH representatives emphasized Bahrom Norkobilov’s substantial contribution not only to the development of Uzbekistan’s veterinary services but also to the entire Central Asian region.

"Cooperation with Uzbekistan is developing very effectively. We always conduct mutually beneficial negotiations. Great attention is paid to animal health issues in Uzbekistan. The country’s veterinary service is characterized by high professional training. We maintain strategic dialogue with the State Committee for the Development of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry of Uzbekistan, Bahrom Norqobilov. In October 2024, the 31st Conference of the WOAH Regional Commission for Europe was successfully held in Samarkand. The forum featured substantive presentations. We personally witnessed the high level of Uzbekistan’s veterinary service and your country’s hospitality. Working with Uzbek partners is very useful and productive for me. I sincerely appreciate this cooperation", - noted WOAH Director General Emmanuel Subiran.
